Stretch Marks
Stretch marks appear on the body in many different places for a variety of reasons. They are often the result of the rapid stretching of the skin associated with
  • rapid growth (common in puberty) or
  • weight gain (e.g. pregnancy, muscle building, or rapid gain of fat)
  • severe pulling force on skin that overcomes the dermis's elasticity.
  • Stretch marks may also be influenced by hormonal changes associated with puberty and pregnancy.
Stretch marks occur when the dermis, the middle layer of your skin, is stretched to a point where its elasticity begins to break down. As the dermis is stretched, the outer layer of skin, the epidermis, also stretches making it translucent enough that you can see the reddish purple stretch mark forming. As these marks heal, scar formation occurs, and you have a stretch mark.

Stretch marks can appear anywhere on the body, but are most likely to appear in places where larger amounts of fat are stored.

Most common places are the abdomen (especially near the navel), breasts, upper arms, underarms, back, thighs (both inner and outer), hips, and buttocks. They pose no health risk in and of themselves, and do not compromise the body's ability to function normally and repair itself.[

Though there have been a plethora of treatments available for getting rid of stretch marks it is only in the recent past that good and effective treatment options have been ..Though, the various treatment options do not necessarily cause total removal of the stretch marks , they do lighten the marks. However, often a treatment that has proved to be effective for one person might not necessarily benefit the other. Thus, it is advisable to seek a consultation before opting for any treatment.... it is often difficult of us to sugget a line of treatment without consultation and examination
